Engine 89 is a 2013 Spartan Mini-Pumper on a Ford F-550 4×4 chassis and powered by a 6.7L Powerstroke engine. Engine 89 serves as the district’s primary aid vehicle for the southern half of the district as well as a initial attack fire apparatus. It is a BLS (Basic Life Support) unit which carries a full array of equipment including defibrillator, oxygen, and first aid supplies. Firefighting capabilities include a 1000 GPM pump, 300 gallons of water, and a CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System). The small size and and full fire pump capability along with the CAFS allow us to provide better fire suppression capabilities to residences in the district which could not be accessed by the front line attack engines. Specialized equipment carried on Engine 89 includes a Hurst hydraulic combination spreader/cutter, TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera), gas detection equipment, and a 15,000 lb electric winch.
